This special exhibition of Sarah Charlesworth’s work and influence extends beyond her to convey the artist’s enduring relevance. With a focus on creative connection and intergenerational conversation, the exhibition gathers three additional artists with whom Charlesworth had important dialogues during her lifetime: Laurie Simmons, Sara VanDerBeek and Lucy Charlesworth Freeman. Collectively, their works offer a new perspective on Charlesworth as a foundationally important artist who expands our understanding of photography’s role in the world today. The exhibition enables these artists to serve as interlocutors, showcasing their inspiring work and that of Charlesworth anew.
