PALM BEACH, FL—Paula Cooper Gallery is pleased to announce the opening of a new seasonal gallery in Palm Beach, Florida from December 2020 to May 2021. The temporary gallery will be located at 243A Worth Avenue—the historic commercial street in the heart of Palm Beach and home to many of the town’s most dynamic and celebrated businesses.

“The opportunity came to us rather serendipitously through Jane Holzer, who has a residence there and is a partner in Le Bilboquet, a new French restaurant opening nearby on Worth Avenue,” says Steve Henry, Senior Director of the gallery. “With the cancellation of art fairs and constraints on travel, the pandemic has propelled us to adapt—to find new ways to share our artists’ work. There has always been a passionate and discerning art community in Palm Beach and, of course, in neighboring Miami. With so many people planning extended stays there this year, it made a lot of sense for us to open a temporary space. Our location on Worth Avenue is particularly exciting—we will be nestled between historic businesses, restaurants, and lively pedestrians vias. We look forward to welcoming the sunshine while engaging with collectors, colleagues and friends with whom we have a long history as well as those new to us.”

In celebration of the vibrant life of Palm Beach and the surrounding area, the inaugural exhibition will present drawings and sculpture by Claes Oldenburg and Coosje van Bruggen with a focus on their images of food, sport, music, and other symbols of pleasure. Subsequent exhibitions will present exemplary works of painting, sculpture, photography, and mixed-media by artists including Cecily Brown, Sol LeWitt, Eric N. Mack, Paul Pfeiffer, and Dan Walsh, among others.
