On the occasion of the exhibition Atsuko Tanaka, Yayoi Kusama, Frances Morris and Yasufumi Nakamori will be in conversation about the artists' work and practice, discussing the artistic concerns of these pioneering figures in postwar abstract art.

Frances Morris is a renowned curator, art historian, and writer who currently serves as Chair of the Gallery Climate Coalition (GCC). She began her career at Tate in 1987 as a curator in the Modern Collection and later became Head of Displays at Tate Modern upon its opening in 2000. In 2006, she was appointed Director of Collections (International Art), curating landmark exhibitions including a major retrospective of Yayoi Kusama. From 2016 to 2023, Morris served as the first female Director of Tate Modern. Following her tenure, she was named Director Emerita and continues to shape the art world through curatorial projects, academic roles, and advisory positions at institutions such as the Whitechapel Gallery, Mori Art Museum, and Serralves Museum.

Yasufumi Nakamori is a distinguished museum leader, curator, and scholar specializing in modern and contemporary Asian art. Most recently, he served as Director at Asia Society Museum, where he oversaw the museum’s exhibitions and programs. Prior to that, he was Senior Curator, International Art at Tate Modern, where he led photography acquisitions and curated key exhibitions, including Zanele Muholi and The 80s: Photographing Britain. He also held curatorial positions at the Minneapolis Institute of Art and the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston. He currently serves on the boards of several institutions including the Yayoi Kusama Foundation.
