Robbie Lee: Live Performance

On the final day of Tauba Auerbach’s exhibition, Paula Cooper Gallery presents a solo performance by Brooklyn-based multi-instrumentalist Robbie Lee, featuring flute, subcontrabass, and custom-made electronics.

Making its debut, Lee’s newly created electroacoustic design explores hypnotic melody, room acoustics, and responsive electronics, engaging with the sonic elements of Auerbach’s exhibition to create an inventive dialogue between instruments, electronic sound, and the gallery environment.

A lifelong adventurer in creative and improvised music, Lee works across a wide range of woodwinds, from the very largest to the tiniest, often bringing historical instruments into new contexts. He has recorded and collaborated with musicians including Lea Bertucci, Mary Halvorson, Brian Chase, James Ilgenfritz, and Jozef Van Wissem, as well as with Glasser, The Howling Hex, and Cass McCombs, among others.

This event is free and open to the public.
