50 years of the S.E.M. Ensemble at the Paula Cooper Gallery
The Paula Cooper Gallery and the S.E.M. Ensemble signify a relationship based on mutual artistic understanding and support. Since the first concert over fifty years ago on April 14, 1976, SEM has presented more than 100 concerts at the gallery. Guests have included John Cage, Pauline Oliveros, Jackson Mac Low, Christian Wolff, Dick Higgins, Leroy Jenkins, Laurie Spiegel, and David Tudor, just to name a few. These concerts have made a difference in New York's musical environment and beyond. We are looking forward to the next 50 years of presenting and performing the music of today.—Petr Kotik
